Frequently asked Questions
A Better way to Practice Physical Therapy!
GroupHab's Transition to a
Community- integration Model.
Why is GroupHab changing its model?
GroupHab was founded to create long-term solutions for older adults — not short episodes of care. Traditional clinic-based care limits how many people we can reach and creates barriers such as transportation and scheduling. By shifting care into the home and community, we can reach more seniors, earlier, and keep them strong and well over time.
What is AgeWellHab Physical Therapy?
AgeWellHab Physical Therapy provides outpatient physical therapy in the home. Care is delivered by licensed physical therapists and is covered by Medicare Part B or private pay, just like clinic-based outpatient therapy.
Do I need a hospital stay to receive therapy at home?
No. Outpatient physical therapy through AgeWellHab does not require a hospital stay. Simply call our office to request PT or OT in the home, and we will schedule your visit.
How is this different from Medicare home health?
Medicare home health (Part A) usually requires a recent hospital stay and is short-term. Outpatient physical therapy (Part B), including therapy provided in the home through AgeWellHab, does not require a hospital stay and follows the same coverage rules as clinic-based outpatient therapy.
Will my therapist or quality of care change?
No. Care is still provided by our dedicated licensed physical therapists who specialize in geriatrics, using evidence-based practices. Your plan of care, treatment and level of caring professionalism will remain the same.
What happens when my insurance-covered therapy ends?
Care does not stop when insurance ends. After discharge from physical therapy, you may continue with private-pay in-home therapy or wellness services, or transition into TherHab Fitness programs in the community.
What is TherHab Fitness?
TherHab Fitness provides therapy-informed group fitness classes at senior centers and community locations. These programs focus on strength, balance, mobility, fall prevention, and confidence, helping seniors maintain progress long-term.
Why is this better for seniors?
This model removes barriers, expands access, and provides a clear pathway from therapy to lifelong fitness. It allows GroupHab to stay involved in your health long after traditional therapy ends. In addition, it allows us to reach more individuals with an emphasis on wellness and prevention.
How do I get started with AgeWellHab or TherHab Fitness?
Simply call our office. Our team will guide you through scheduling home therapy, transitioning into fitness programs, or choosing the option that best fits your needs.
Does it cost more to have a physical therapist come to my home?
No. There are no additional costs to you and the service is billed and covered exactly the same as a clinic service.
What if I am not sure if I need physical therapy in the home or if I should try a class at the senior center?
We offer a free telephone consultation with our physical therapist to help you determine what service is best for you. Call 864-525-2654 You can also share your concerns with your physician and further guidance.
How do I know what classes to choose at my local senior center after physical Therapy?
If you are receiving AgeWellHab physial therapy at home your physical therapist will recommend the appropriate classes for you upon discharge.
How do I know what classes to try at the senior center if I am not just completing physical therapy?
Our physical therapist schedule regular screenings and prevention workshops. You can meet with a physical therapist at the local senior center at that time. Alternatively, you can call our office to speak with a physical therapist.
Why partner with senior centers?
Senior centers have so many wonderful resources and social activites to serve older adults. GroupHab Physical Therapy is striving to serve older adults where they live and gather. Providing classes and programs in a senior center fulfills our mission to prevent frailty and keep older adults fit and well.
To have the most impact, with this model, we will practice in a continum of care. The model allows us to provide education, care, and guidance including prevention, how and when it is needed and where it is convenient.

How long are the in-home PT sessions?
Treatments are typically 50-60 mintues.

Is GroupHab closing?
No! We are growing! GroupHab is evolving how services are delivered to better serve older adults in our community. While clinic-based care is ending, the mission, team, and philosophy of GroupHab continues through two connected programs: AgeWellHab Physical Therapy and TherHab Fitness.
